The Story About Zeitz

What were once Cape Town’s grain silos have been reimagined by architect Thomas Heatherwick into the Zeitz MOCA.

Visiting the observation deck, I noticed the enormous geometric windows. In composing this image, I chose to frame two windows side by side, evoking the likeness of a pair of eyes gazing outward.

The composition wasn’t complete until a passerby paused before one of the windows, which emphasised both the sheer scale of the space and its silent conversation with the individual. In making this photo I realised how space itself can shape our state of mind, inviting us to slow down, observe and contemplate.

The artwork is part of the Scale of Space photo series and is part of a limited edition of 20 fine art prints. Each edition is expertly printed by a master printer using archival pigment inks, ensuring the artworks longevity. Each print is numbered, hand-signed and issued with a certificate of authenticity.
