The Story About Swagger

This bold photograph encapsulates both street photography and portraiture. A larger than life portrait, painted across an outdoor wall, becomes a backdrop as a passerby unknowingly moves through the frame, creating a juxtaposition between the static and the fleeting.

The composition makes repeated use of a frame within a frame, layering the dynamic, real life subject against the static painted gaze and building a visual dialogue between the two. The artwork carries glamour and confidence: the painted portrait's piercing stare and intricate tattoos meet the passerby's boldly patterned outfit and easy swagger. The monochromatic palette, with its striking contrasts, sharpens the drama and lets the image hold both permanence and transience in the same frame.

'Swagger' is a limited edition of 10 fine art prints, giclée printed with archival pigment inks on Hahnemühle Photo Rag, a 308gsm acid and lignin-free 100% cotton paper. Each print is inspected by hand, then named, numbered and signed by Mario Tarantino, with the reverse carrying the title, location, camera settings and the date the photograph was taken.
