The Story Behind Sentinel
There is something fascinating about lighthouses as they heroically guard the jagged outcroppings of coastlines day after day. The Kommetjie Lighthouse is one of South Africa's older lighthouses, guarding Slangkop Point (which means Snakes Head in Afrikaans.) The detailed darks in the photographs' foreground, which progress to lighter shades throughout the image, reflecting the role that lighthouses play in lighting the way.
