The Story About Rhythm

This photograph brings together two elements that often define my work: the precision of architecture and the spontaneity of life unfolding in the street, photographed in Valencia. What first caught my attention was the repetition of diagonal columns and the curved line they traced, a rhythm that felt unfinished until something moved through it.

I waited for the right moment, and when the runner entered the frame, his stride gave the composition its movement and balance, completing the stillness of the structure. What holds me about the image is the positivity it carries: perseverance, resilience, and the determination to keep moving forward. It carries personal meaning too. The artist's proof hangs in my studio, a steady reminder of strength and resolve.

This award-winning photograph is part of the Scale of Space series. 'Rhythm' is a limited edition of 10 fine art prints, giclée printed with archival pigment inks on Hahnemühle Photo Rag, a 308gsm acid and lignin-free 100% cotton paper. Each print is inspected by hand, then named, numbered and signed by Mario Tarantino, with the reverse carrying the title, location, camera settings and the date the photograph was taken. A stamped and signed certificate of authenticity accompanies the work, and the edition price rises as prints sell.
