The Story About Resilience

The African savannah is vast, its horizons stretching endlessly. Whilst on my way to another location, I came across this solitary tree standing in the middle of the plains, in South Africa's Western Cape. Leafless but unbroken, it immediately struck me as a symbol of resilience. What compelled me to photograph the scene was the contrast between the immensity of the landscape and the steady strength of this lone tree. Against the backdrop of open space, it became more than part of the environment, it carried its own presence, a vision of fortitude and endurance in solitude.

'Resilience' is a limited edition of 20 fine art prints, giclée printed with archival pigment inks on Hahnemühle Photo Rag, a 308gsm acid and lignin-free 100% cotton paper. Each print is inspected by hand, then named, numbered and signed by Mario Tarantino, with the reverse carrying the title, location, camera settings and the date the photograph was taken.
