The Story About Evasion

I went to great lengths to capture this seascape during my time in South Africa. I did not want to just document the scene, but to convey its vastness and its untouched, elemental beauty.

Standing inside the marine cave, I was fascinated by the delicate interplay of light and shadow that revealed its forms and textures. From the fine white sand to the rugged stone walls and the shimmering water at the cave's entrance, every detail felt alive and essential.

Whenever I look at this photograph the sensorial memories come rushing back: the salt carried on the air and the echo of waves washing in and out of the cavern.

'Evasion' is a limited edition of 10 fine art prints, giclée printed with archival pigment inks on Hahnemühle Photo Rag, a 308gsm acid and lignin-free 100% cotton paper. Each print is inspected by hand, then named, numbered and signed by Mario Tarantino, with the reverse carrying the title, location, camera settings and the date the photograph was taken.
