The Story About Dune

During my time in Birmingham, I had the chance to photograph the Selfridges Building, an icon of modern architecture. It was a typically British morning, overcast, with just enough light breaking through the clouds to make the moment worth capturing. Seeking abstraction, I found an angle where the facade took on organic qualities, closer to a wave or a dune. In that interplay, the building took on a surreal presence, at once futuristic and unplaceable in time.

This award-winning photograph is part of the Archstract series. 'Dune' is a limited edition of 20 fine art prints, giclée printed with archival pigment inks on Hahnemühle Photo Rag, a 308gsm acid and lignin-free 100% cotton paper. Each print is inspected by hand, then named, numbered and signed by Mario Tarantino, with the reverse carrying the title, location, camera settings and the date the photograph was taken. A stamped and signed certificate of authenticity accompanies the work, and the edition price rises as prints sell.
