The Story About Haven

When photographing the Opera House of Valencia, I wanted to emphasise its scale and sculptural presence. Standing directly before the façade, I allowed its sweeping curves and symmetry to fill the frame, the architecture rising above me with an almost otherworldly character.

What completes the image is the presence of a woman entering the scene—small and almost fragile against the immensity of the structure, yet essential in providing scale and grounding the vision in reality. The photograph becomes a dialogue between extremes: Calatrava’s monumental vision and the quiet simplicity of a single passerby. It is within that contrast that the image finds its balance.

This award winning artwork is part of the Scale of Space series and forms part of a limited edition of 20 fine art prints. Each edition is printed by a master printer on Hahnemühle Photo Rag Fine Art paper, using archival pigment inks resulting in long lasting museum quality prints.
