The Story About Contour

When creating a minimalist image, every element must coexist in harmony, each part supporting the other. In this photograph, my aim was to capture the sublime through simplicity, allowing light, shadow, and negative space to find a delicate balance.

What emerges is an architectural portrait where geometric forms interact to create both balance and a sense of restrained movement. The dialogue between straight and curved lines, together with the negative space that accentuates the sweeping arc, highlights the elegance of this mid-century design, the KWV building in Paarl, South Africa.

'Contour' is a limited edition of 10 fine art prints, giclée printed with archival pigment inks on Hahnemühle Photo Rag, a 308gsm acid and lignin-free 100% cotton paper. Each print is inspected by hand, then named, numbered and signed by Mario Tarantino, with the reverse carrying the title, location, camera settings and the date the photograph was taken.
